Under the deal, DreamWorks shareholders will receive $41 in cash for each share of DreamWorks stock. The deal came together with breathtaking speed. The Glendale-based animation studio will be folded into the Universal Filmed Entertainment group, run by Jeff Shell. "DreamWorks will help us grow our film, television, theme parks and consumer products businesses for years to come," he said."DreamWorks Animation is a great addition to NBCUniversal,” said Steve Burke, chief executive of NBCUniversal. “[DreamWorks CEO] Jeffrey Katzenberg and the DreamWorks organization have created a dynamic film brand and a deep library of intellectual property." Katzenberg will become chairman of DreamWorks New Media, which will be made up of the company's interests in Awesomeness TV and Nova. He also will serve as a consultant to NBCUniversal.
